Bubba Bassin Club had their season opener on Lake Massabessic with 54 anglers coming out to play. The lake has been open for just over a week which kept the water temp low around 39 to 40 degrees thruout the whole lake. The weather also made things a little uncomfortable with winds blowing down the lake from the North/Northeast at 10 to 15 mph.
 
The bite was far from the best with only 6 anglers catching limits and a total of 24 fish brought into the weigh-in. Congrats to John Diacco for taking first place with 2 largemouth at 6.11 lbs with his biggest weighing in at 4.19 lbs. John used a wide variety of baits but his only two bites of the day came off of jerk baits in 5 feet of water.
 
Coming in second place with just one fish was Joe White who caught the tournament lunker. Joe caught his 5.14 lb largemouth on a grub in 8 feet of water. Massy has been good to Joe and his lunkers over the past with him catching the lunker two years ago as well. Way to go Joe!!
 
Third place went to our Treasurer, David Tsao who caught 2 fish for 4.95 lbs. Also, in the back of Dave's boat was Bob Hurst who also caught two fish weighing in at 4.50 lbs which landed him in the First Losers Pool. They both caught their fish on silver buddies in about 10 to 14 feet of water.
 
Newbie Brian LaFrancoise was our lucky smallmouth lunker winner catching his first-ever silver buddy fish which tipped the scales at 3.23 lbs!! Way to go Brian and congrats on your first SB fish, especially with it also cashing you a nice check. Nothing wrong with that, congrats again!!
