Well, another nice day on Winni and it
looks like the answer to last’s tournaments question – Does anybody work
anymore? is not many. We had a great turnout for our 3rd Midweek
tournament which also was our second and final sanctioned tournament for
the Nitro boat giveaway. Our First place winner Rich Wentworth is going to
the Nitro boat giveaway tournament in October along with Peter Weeks, the
highest placing Nitro / Tracker owner. Good luck to all of you. Had a
little bit of confusing time at the end of the day figuring out the
highest placing nitro / tracker boater thinking it was Mike McNary, but
when the results were all in and tabulated, it was Peter Weeks, just
beating him by 11.10 to 10.90. Sorry Mike, Congrats to Peter.
Now on to the tournament:
Our first place winner was Richard Wentworth coming in with 13.73. Rick
proclaims that the early morning bite was on a whitish coated buzz bait.
As the day wore on, he worked docks and weeds with tubes and Senkos. Well
done and congratulations.
Coming in second with 13.57 was Steve Lucarelli. Looky looky by golly ;-) Steve brings a largemouth to the scale. All kidding aside, great job. He
fished for smallies again using a drop shot prototype gulp olive black.
Our third place winner was Mark Peabody bringing 13.10 to the scales. He
is no stranger to the winners circle here at Winni taking first place at
the last midweek which put him in the Nitro boat fishing tournament. You
cashed in again using June bug Senko’s in 3-4 feet of weeds as well as
black and blue jig and pig in rocks and weeds.

Fourth place went to Doug Hume with 13.05. He used spinner baits in 12
feet of water and a drop shot in 30 feet. He finessed his largemouth in
shallow water using a green pumpkin Senko.
Scott Guimond took fifth place with 13.04. He used gold jerkbaits, black
tubes with his smallies, being caught in 30 feet of water. His largemouth
was caught in shallow water. Our 6th place winner, Rich St Pierre was
fishing on the northwest side of the lake. His technique was flipping and
pitching towards docks with smoke colored tubes.
Our lunker smallmouth went to Jeff Daley with a 4.03 hog. He caught his
lunker off a cigarette boat using a green pumpkin Senko in 4 feet of
water. Our lunker largemouth went to none other than Bobby “Girl” Hurst.
Can anyone guess where and how he caught it? Wrong! He caught it in Winni
somewhere up north.
Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to talk to our first loser Michael
Vining. Great job to all today. It was another great day to be out there
on the water. Fish and Game were there today also and tagged 161 fish and
recapturing 15. A couple of the fish that were recaptured today were
tagged on June 30th, 2 of these recaptured fish were caught all the way at
Sally’s Gut.
Last but not least, another big Thank you goes out to our sponsors for
their support. We appreciate all you do for us. Winning a bottle of Bass
Boat Saver was Steve Lucarelli,. The winner of the Applebee’s gift
certificate from Park Ave was Rod Laferriere. The Action Paintball gift
certificate from Angelo Rigano went to Randy Smith and the Berkley baits
went to Steve Graham. Winning our giveaways from Quinn’s Trading Post were
Rob Frye and Carlo Desimone. Last but not least, the winner of a free
entry to any 2007 Midweek was Bill Stendor. Congratulations to all the
winners. Enjoy. And to all our Bubba’s remember to support our sponsors.
Again thank you Rob for MC’ing. It was a pleasure.
Our next midweek will be on August 8th. See you all there.
