Well the 2008 season is off to a great start – 34 players on our first midweek.

Hello to a friend in Iraq. – Jeff Bitcon. This long distance hello comes from Big Joe, the frozen Floridian. He says hello to Jeff in Iraq. Along with Joe’s hello, all the Bubba’s say hello too.

Now it wasn’t as warm as the last time that Mike and Joe fished, and we didn’t see any gators, but a fun time as well.

Morning started at a brisk 27 degrees and a mild breeze of 12 miles an hours. Water temps in the mid 40’s. Reports of one crazy man running to Paugus across the broads. Noticed many others just peaking out at the broads, but decided to stay put. Again 34 braved the cold. But were rewarded with a pretty good smallmouth bite. What a difference a few days makes, the largie bite was a bit tough. We only caught 13 largemouth and for the most part all of them were very respectful.

Our 34 players gave us a grand total of 13 largemouths, 31 smallmouth also came to the scale. Fish looked great, it was great to be out on Winni.

Taking our coveted first losers spot was Bob Savoie with 6.14. Back in greens. Mike Mac got to watch Bob catch his largie right in front of him with something green, maybe it was the WW. Not quite sure, We will have to find out what secret weapon he was throwing. Good Bag.

Alan Denise came in fifth just a jerking and a jigging. 6.69 lbs. Nice job ole man.

Jake Faneuf came in fourth with 6.77. Caught most of his fish on jerkbaits and grubs.

Coming in third was Steve Lucarelli using one of his new baits, Titleshot jigs in 10 – 12 feet of water. He also a very nice smallmouth which was lunker at 3.61 for a grand total of 6.80.

Coming in second Peter Weeks, him and his new Skeeter (and by the way congratulations on the purchase of your new home. Best of luck from the Bubbas). Now back to the fishing, he claims he got most of his fish on a gold buddy in 28 feet of water and he got his kicker largemouth lunker of 5.76 somewhere in Moultonborough for a grand total of 8.10

No stranger to first place, the jig something, something, something, Mark Peabody. Congratulations and well done on a rather tough day. 2 Largemouth for a sweet bag of 8.22. Mark shared black and blue all day long.

A free entry to any 2008 Midweek goes off to Greg Saulnier.
