What a wonderful day to play hooky and for our 2nd midweek tournament of the year. We never did see any of the rain. Not only was this our second midweek, which brought out 47 players, it was also the first of two Bubba midweek’s that are sanctioned as qualifying events for the 591 Nitro giveaway tournament in October courtesy of Marine USA. Our two Bubba’s, Mark Peabody, our first place champion and Alan Denise, the top placing Nitro/Tracker owner are on their way to the October tournament. Keep watching for our next two winners, which will be decided at our next Midweek tournament on July 25th. Good luck to all.

Now for the details….
Several of our top winners caught their limit early in the morning. Our first place winner, Mark Peabody caught his big one, a 6.58 largemouth on a jib and pig in around 4 to 5 feet of water. For the rest of his day he used a natural shad colored Senko in 3 – 6 feet of water in the weeds resulting in his winning weight of 17.10. He caught his limit by 8am and culled 5 or 6 fish throughout the day. Great job today Mark. Mark placed second in our last Draw tournament on June 30th, seems he is on a roll right now.

Coming in second place was Gene Burnham with a winning weight of 13.92. He caught his big largemouth in 6 – 8 feet of water using a black chatter bait. Using spinners in the shallow waters and pinkish colored Senko’s in the weeds along the shore he caught his three smallmouth to complete is catch for the day. He culled two fish all day.

Our third place winner, Alan Denise, had his limit by 8 am using spinner baits, spooks, and spider jigs in shallow water. Alan’s 2 largemouth and 3 smallmouth totaled him a nice weight of 13.55. Alan was our top Nitro / Tracker winner landing him a slot in the Nitro giveaway tournament in October. Good luck Alan.

Fourth place went to Tom Lamb with 12.97. Yes, Tom you caught them on Winni. John Diaco, taking fifth place with 12.58 also had his limit by 8:30 am. He caught his largemouth on a jig an pig ..of course, using top water most of the day. He was at or around 20 feet of water all day.

Cory Nearing took our last winning spot with 12.37. He used tubes and Senko’s of “greens… the usual colors.” He culled one fish all day.

The First Loser, Phil Erwin with 12.31, used sweet beavers green pumpkin and watermelon along with some green pumpkin brush hogs (call it a lizard on steroids) in five feet of water. Our lunker smallmouth, 3.83, went to Scott Parker who used a purple 1 ounce flip in jig in 6 feet of water. Scott was also the winner of a free entry to any 2007 Midweek tournament. Congratulations Scott.

Our sponsor giveaway winners are…
Dennis Brophy – the Bass Boat Saver
Bobby “girl” Hurst – Action Paint Ball
Bruce Acox – Applebee’s Gift Certificate
John Wright – the Berkley Baits.

As always, we thank our sponsors for the generous contributions that have made our tournaments so memorable. We hope that you all support our sponsors; they do such a great job supporting us.

Another great day with Fish and Game tagging near all of our fish. A wonderful job was done by all of us working hand in hand to improve our understanding and tracking of the fish. We know of two previously tagged fish that came back to our scales today. One was caught by Rob Frye, our own Howard Stearn, Mr. MC himself, deep in Ellacoya State Park and the other was caught by none other than Bobby “girl” Hurst near the Barber pole going North.

A sincere thank you goes out to all that helped to make this tournament such a success, Greg Day, Mike Day, Bobby ‘girl” Hurst, Rod Laferriere, Rod Taylor and last but of course not least, Rob Frye. Thank you John Diaco.

See you at the next midweek . Does anybody work anymore??
